Sophie Rodriguez

Technical Director

2025, she/her MFA Drama, Technical Direction

Sophie Rodriguez is a graduate Technical Director from Carnegie Mellon School of Drama’s 2025 class, with a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology from Otterbein University.

During her 2nd and 3rd years of graduate school, she served as Carnegie Scenic’s Project Manager and gained further experience in scenic budgeting, having budgetary conversations with scenic designers, material research/selection/purchasing, scheduling, and creating technical designs that met structural design standards while advising her fellow classmates in their production work. Sophie has also enjoyed being the Teaching Assistant for Structural Design for the Stage I and II courses during her final year of school.

This summer, Sophie will be returning to The Glimmerglass Festival for her 3rd season, in her 2nd season as the Assistant Technical Director of Stage Operations. She enjoys interviewing and building the Stage Operations team each season, and leading them in scenic changeovers for a 5-show repertory opera season and scenery and prop transfers across multiple venues.

In addition, Sophie will begin as the Technical Director at Fordham University at Lincoln Center in the fall of 2025. While living in NYC, she hopes to pursue technical design and project management positions.
