Sondai NaNaBuluku is an Atlanta born playwright who was the recipient of Working Title Playwright’s 2021-2023 Rosalind-Ayres Memorial Scholarship as well as the Second Place recipient of the Kennedy Center’s 2024 Lorraine Hansberry Playwriting Award. He has a BFA in Theatre & Performance from Bard College as well as an MA in English Education from NYU. Currently, he is completing his MFA for Dramatic Writing at Carnegie Mellon University. Over the years, he has had the privilege to study under artists such as Nilaja Sun and Chiori Miyagawa at Bard College as well as Rob Handel and Melissa Martin at Carnegie Mellon University. His work centers on showcasing how Black joy triumphs over the “ills” of the world around us, how Black nerdom (blerdness if you will) keeps the joyful Black child alive and well, as well as how existential work leads to being better people ESPECIALLY better men in the world.
