2025, he/him MFA, Sound Design
Isaac V. Jo is a sound designer, researcher, and creative writer from Texas. He is interested in the intersections of politics, performance, and minoritization. His MFA thesis, “Constructing an antiracist framework for theatrical sound design,” aims to develop a deep understanding of these intersections through a multidisciplinary lens to create an implementable, practical framework for a continual artistic practice.
Isaac spends his summers teaching with the Pre-College Drama program here at Carnegie Mellon University, working with small classes of high school students to deepen their artistic practices through sound design. Before attending Carnegie Mellon University, he worked in public education for eight years. Isaac is deeply committed to helping his students explore themselves through art.
In his spare time, Isaac likes to play with his cat and read books with his husband.
