Chloe Cohen
Sound Designer
2025, She/they BFA Drama, Sound Design
Chloe Cohen is a sound designer and composer from Texas. She is finishing her final year as a BFA Sound Design student at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama. Along with her sound design curriculum, Chloe also took many classes with the School of Music and enjoyed performing with the choir. Chloe has experience as a sound designer, sound engineer, mixer, composer, songwriter, and music producer. She has worked on projects in theatre, film, and video games.
Chloe mixes complex sound design with stirring compositions to communicate emotionally with the audience. Musically, she specializes in orchestral composition and takes inspiration from the works of her favorite film composers. Sonically, Chloe believes in the importance of supporting art by seamlessly incorporating sound, affecting the audience subconsciously.
For her final show as a designer at CMU, Chloe took on many roles for the production, including: writing and producing original songs with the cast, creating arrangements of existing songs, composing underscoring, creating sound effects and soundscapes, recording a flamenco dancer and syncing her footsteps to media footage, firing lighting and media cues in time with sound using OSC, as well as designing and overseeing the installation of the sound system.
In her free time, Chloe loves watching movies at home or her local movie theater. She studies the art of film scoring and enjoys examining the unique sonic approach of each film. She watched 130 movies in 2024, and her goal for 2025 is 150!
