Alex Reinard

Alex Reinard will be graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in May 2026 with a BFA in Technical Direction. Originally from Connecticut, he initially came to Pittsburgh with an interest in lighting design, before deciding to pursue technical direction.
While at CMU, Alex has held a variety of positions within production, including job lead, assistant technical director, and, most recently, project manager of Carnegie Scenic. He has learned many valuable skills, such as budgeting and estimation, technical design, hand drafting, 2D and 3D AutoCAD, personnel management, CNC machine operation, and more.
Outside of technical direction, Alex has experience as a systems installer, installing permanent lighting and sound systems in schools, colleges, theaters, and churches. He has experience in equipment repair and rental, and is proficient with lighting and sound equipment. He has substantial experience in trucking, and has a CDL. This past summer, he worked at the Glimmerglass Opera Festival as a stage operations apprentice, where he refined his work ethic and all-around skills as a stagehand.
In his free time, Alex enjoys spending time outside and building things for fun. After graduation, he hopes to stay close to home in the quiet corner of Connecticut.
