Courage to Resist Oppression

In a society gripped by tyranny, Antigone’s courageous defiance against authoritarian power ignites a tragic clash between personal conviction and oppressive rule. As Antigone pays the ultimate price for her actions, the Chorus—initially a tool of the king’s power—awakens to the tragic consequences of blind obedience. This production, set in the near future, gives new urgency to a classic story.

Headshot of Nell Murphy

“Antigone’s bold refusal to stay silent feels as urgent now as ever—in a world where speaking out carries real risk, her defiant, passionate, and fiercely principled attitude resonates deeply.”

-Nell Murphy (Class of 2026) on playing ANTIGONE
