Leviticus Jelks III
MFA DRAMATIC WRITING, 2016
Leviticus Jelks III is an award-winning playwright with a varied career across both the theatre and film industries. Since graduating from CMU’s MFA Dramatic Writing program in 2016, Leviticus has received multiple prestigious awards, including the 2018 Play LA Humanitas Playwriting Award and the Alfred P. Sloan Screenwriting Award. While at CMU he was a co-recipient of the 2016 KCACTF Lorraine Hansberry Playwriting Award for his play “A Is For Apron”. His work “Day of Saturn” has been feted many times over, receiving the 2018 Woodward/Newman Drama Award, the 2019 Kitchen Dog Theatre Award and was a Finalist for the 2018 Eugene O’Neill Playwrights’ Conference.
Leviticus currently resides in Los Angeles, where he works as an Executive Assistant at Lumi Advisors, a non-profit development advisory firm, and is a member of the Playwrights’ Union of Los Angeles. He has also worked as a writer, production assistant and script editor while in LA, including as a project editor for StoryTerrace, a memoir ghostwriting service.
