Kelly Simons

MFA TECHNICAL DIRECTION, 2019

Kelly earned her MFA in Technical Direction from the School of Drama in 2019. She is an experienced Project Manager and Educator. Since graduation, she has been teaching at various universities and is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Animatronics at University North Carolina School of the Arts.

She has been using her engineering skills learned from CMU on a much smaller scale: the mechanics and figure building for animatronic figures ranging from 12″ to 72″. Kelly teaches her students creative problem techniques that apply to both their schoolwork and careers.
