Ross Nugent

Facilities and Operations Manager (Melwood)

Appointed by the College of Fine Arts Dean’s Office, Ross serves both the School of Drama and School of Art as facilities and operations manager of the 477 Melwood Avenue property.


Ross has over 20 years of experience in media education and exhibition. He has taught at Thiel College (Greenville, Pa.), Pittsburgh Filmmakers, the University of Maryland University College, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Ross earned an MFA in film production from the UW-Milwaukee and a BA in film studies from the University of Pittsburgh. 

His involvement in film and video exhibition includes management positions at the Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center (Sewickley, Pa.), Union Cinema (Milwaukee), and Pittsburgh Filmmakers. He is a technical director for the biennial exhibition of expanded cinema presented by MONO NO AWARE, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit cinema arts organization, and for Sync’d (Pittsburgh), which pairs audio and visual artists for live performances.

Ross’s own artistic practice includes experimental, observational documentary and expanded cinema works. He has screened at numerous film festivals and art venues, with local exhibitions at SPACE Gallery and the Mattress Factory as well as presentations at the Museum of Modern Art (NYC) and National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
