Paloma Sierra is an accomplished writer, director and translator with an extensive resume in both theater and film. A graduate of both CMU’s MFA Dramatic Writing (‘21) and BFA Creative Writing and Drama (‘19) programs, Paloma has developed several new plays, musicals, operas and spoken word pieces in Pittsburgh and beyond.
Paloma’s multilingual, immersive work across stage and film has earned her a U.S. Fulbright scholarship, an appointment as the first Emerging Poet Laureate of Allegheny County, and recognition from the Dramatists Guild of America and the Writers Guild Foundation. She has developed work with Jermyn Street Theatre, Theatre Now New York, Project Y Theatre Company, New Hazlett Theater, Conch Shell Productions, and City of Asylum, securing development and production opportunities at renowned venues like Edinburgh Fringe, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and the Kennedy Center. Her videopoem “I Am Soil Breaking Off” received international acclaim, winning the inaugural ¡Tú Cuentas! Cine Youth Festival Grand Prize. Her verse dramas, poetry, and translations are published in “Bridge: The Bluffton University Journal,” “Persephone’s Daughters,” and “Sampsonia Way.”
