Todd R. Kulik
I am not the smartest person in the room, I am always looking for better ways to support the magic on stage. I will confidently say, “I don’t know everything, but I know I won’t try it that way again.”
-Todd R. Kulik
Todd is a props person – a maker, finder and keeper of things. Todd is happy to join CMU School of Drama from Hartford Stage in Hartford Connecticut where he was led the team in sourcing and building the stage props for the world premiere of “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.”
Todd joined the creative team at Carnegie Mellon School of Drama in 2015. For Todd, this was a homecoming. He got his start in artistic crafts in the early 1990’s as an upholster and antique restorer. After studying theater at the University of Pittsburgh, he joined the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, (IATSE) and became the Props Artisan at the Pittsburgh Public Theater. He then went to Hartford Connecticut to take the position of Props Master. While in Hartford, he led the props shop in the sourcing of props for five world premieres including the the premiere of “A Gentleman’s Guide of Love and Murder.” Todd enjoys being a props person and also is the props manager for the Pittsburgh Opera. In his free time he hones his craft by wood working and has joined the Society of Prop Managers where he serves on the educational committee.
