Cary Spear

Pre-College Acting/Audition/Text Analysis

Cary Anne Spear began her theater career in Washington, DC, where she was a member of the Arena Stage acting company for ten years. In her first season she was cast in the premier of John Guare’s Women and Water, for which she was chosen by the playwright as his indomitable heroine, Lydie Breeze. She is most grateful, however, for the power of experiencing so many years surrounded by the thoroughly dedicated, highly skilled, and endlessly supportive actors, directors, designers, craftsmen, and staff of the resident Arena company. After moving to New York, Cary performed off-Broadway and in regional theaters around the country. She also has been fortunate to work in many fine Pittsburgh theaters:  Pittsburgh Playhouse, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, City Theatre, Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre, Barebones Productions, No Name Players, and St. Vincent Summer Theatre. Cary has been thrilled to teach Acting, Audition, and Analyzing Text classes for the CMU Pre-College Drama program for many years.
