Hidden by mist and unforgiving waters\, it was once home to one of the most remarkable and self-sufficient community of islanders. For hundreds of years the people of the island endured brutal conditions and built a unique and precious society to survive; one that relied on every islander having their part to play. That was until August 29\, 1930 – when the entire community boarded a ship and left their home forever. Atlantic: A Scottish Story follows Evie McCormick\, a young woman of St Kilda\, and her childhood sweetheart\, Quinn Whyte. Each share dreams of a life beyond their island\, however\, when presented with the chance to leave – both are left with a choice that will change the course of their lives\, and their island\, forever. \n\n\n\nAtlantic will have two presentations at the Peirce Studio inside the Trust Arts Education Center. This reading is a part of the Center for New Work’s Impulse Festival\, a brand new event featuring new plays & musicals in development at Pittsburgh Public Theater and Pittsburgh CLO alongside new works from CMU’s MFA in Dramatic Writing program. \n\n\n\nCASTAllie DeMateoDamson Chola Jr.Elijah StrainFavor BuchiGriffin FryeJustus WheatleyKavan BhatiaMae RynessMarina BrazendaleMateo CortesSuri NoelleTamara Arad \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Scott Gilmour & Claire McKenzie are the award-winning musical theatre writing partnership also known as Noisemaker. While scrolling through old texts\, he ricochets through childhood soulmates and queer awakenings as he tries to reconcile the grief of losing two friends to fentanyl poisoning. But this isn’t another tragic tale. This trauma‑clown odyssey takes audiences on a wild ride where grief and absurdity collide so hard they spark cathartic laughter. Narcan Time Machine pushes theatre to its limits: part sci‑fi scramble\, part slapstick meltdown\, part communal intervention. With audience participation and a live Narcan demonstration\, the show confronts the opioid crisis with empathy\, urgency\, and a wild sense of hope — distributing more than 4\,250 life‑saving kits to date. \n\n\n\nNarcan Time Machine has a run time of 60 minutes and will be followed by a 30-minute talkback with creator/performer John Michael and a representative from Prevention Point Pittsburgh\, moderated by a CMU Peer Health Advocate. \n\n\n\nRSVP HERE FOR FREE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n Give Today \n Support the Center for New Work \n \n\n\n\n \n\n InstagramFacebookUniversity Health Services
